HOW YOU CAN MAKE AN IMPACT
- Design, implement and maintain secure IP-based network architectures for ETCS (European Train Control System) onboard systems, including EVC, DMI, Juridical Recorder, odometry interfaces and more
- Configure and manage the CCS Consist Network, ensuring segregation, security and reliable performance of safety-critical and non-safety-critical data flows within the vehicle
- Implement network segmentation, firewall rules, VPNs and secure gateways tailored to the requirements of ETCS onboard environments
- Integrate and secure ETCS communication interfaces, including Euroradio (GSM-R/FRMCS), EDOR units and onboard data loggers
- Perform threat and risk assessments, define mitigations and align with IEC 62443, ISO 27001 and rail-specific security frameworks (e.g., ERA guidelines)
- Collaborate with system architects and certification teams to ensure compliance with cybersecurity regulations and generate supporting safety documentation
- Support the security certification process for onboard systems through technical documentation, test reports and interface specifications
- Work closely with cross-functional teams including integration, test, validation and vehicle engineering
HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE
- Degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a comparable technical field
- Hands-on experience with IP-based embedded or vehicular networks, ideally in rail or other safety-critical domains
- Solid understanding of Layer 2/3 technologies, VLANs, routing, NAT, VPNs and firewall architectures in a constrained embedded or vehicle environment
- Preferably knowledge of ETCS onboard components
- Familiarity with CCS Consist Network concepts are an add on, particularly in relation to ETCS and other Control-Command and Signalling functions
- Proficient in using security and network analysis tools (e.g., Wireshark, Nessus, Zeek, Suricata)
- Knowledge of IEC 62443, ISO 27001 and other IT security standards relevant to railway certification and safety assessment
- Strong analytical skills, structured documentation habits and effective communication across engineering disciplines
