Stadler Rail Service UK (SRSUK) are looking to recruit a Project Manager (Bid & Engineering), reporting into the Senior Sales Manager. The successful candidate will also work closely with the Division Bid and Engineering teams while closely liaising with the SRS UK Heads of Location and wider team.

Role Overview:

The Project Manager (Bid & Engineering) ensures all technical content required for tenders is accurate, compliant, and aligned with Stadler's engineering capabilities. This role acts as the technical interface between engineering teams and Division bid managers, ensuring smooth and efficient delivery of bid documentation. When bids are live, the primary role is to support new bids in addition to working on technical and engineering aspects of existing contracts. Additionally, you will interact with customers and represent the Stadler brand with confidence and professionalism, helping to build trust and promote Stadler's value proposition.

Main Tasks:

Organisational
• Technical Coordination & Documentation: Gather and consolidate specific engineering inputs and own technical Q&A responses during PQQ and ITT phases, acting as the interface with bid and local teams.
• Depot & Supplier Collaboration: Work with depots to collect technical data (maintenance plans, reliability figures) and liaise with suppliers to ensure compliance with standards and project requirements.
• Stakeholder Interface: Act as the engineering liaison with bid, local teams, and key partners, building strong relationships to align technical solutions to PQQ and ITT phases.
• Risk & Cost Management: Identify technical risks and opportunities, propose mitigation strategies, and support cost estimation, risk contingency planning, and whole-life cost modelling by consulting local teams.
• Performance & Strategy Input: Provide input on maintenance strategies, reliability, and availability projections for tenders.

Personnel
• Knowledge & Workload Management: Maintain an engineering knowledge base for future tenders and act as a gatekeeper to prevent depots from being overloaded with technical requests.
• Compliance & Continuous Improvement: Ensure all technical content meets regulatory requirements and Stadler standards, while supporting ongoing contracts for compliance and improvement.





Skills and Experience
• Minimum 5 years' experience in rail bid engineering or technical bid management or other related functions.
• Strong understanding of DfT, TOC, and ROSCO procurement processes.
• Excellent organizational and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to interpret complex technical documentation and ensure compliance.
• Proficiency in MS Office and bid management tools.
• Ability to interact with customers and confidently represent and sell the Stadler brand.

Qualifications
• Professional qualification in Engineering, Rail Technology, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
• Project management or bid management certification (desirable).
