Exploring Nanoscale Magnetism with Single Spins in Diamond
100%, starting by agreement
The Basel Quantum Sensing group at the Department of Physics, University of Basel, is offering a fully funded PhD position in the field of quantum sensing and scanning probe microscopy. Our research focuses on using single electron spins in diamond as sensors to explore magnetic phenomena at the nanoscale.
This doctoral project will center around the development and application of scanning magnetometry at ultra-low temperatures (down to 100 mK). Using Nitrogen Vacancy (NV) and Silicon Vacancy (SiV) centers in diamond, the project aims to probe magnetic properties of low-dimensional quantum materials and develop advanced sensing methods for future quantum technologies.
You will be embedded in a vibrant, international research group with strong expertise in quantum sensing and nanoscale physics, and benefit from an open and supportive scientific environment.
