Project Description
The Institute of Social and Preventive Medicine of the University of Bern (ISPM) performs research in a range of disciplines relevant to public health (www.ispm.unibe.ch). Groups cut across divisions, facilitating an interdisciplinary approach to research in the fields of clinical epidemiology, social and behavioral health, biostatistics, and international and environmental health. The ISPM is highly reputed for its expertise in health effects of environmental exposures, the spread of infectious disease, and the health of vulnerable groups including children and the elderly.The Climate Epidemiology and Public Health Group, led by Prof. Ana Maria Vicedo-Cabrera, addresses the impacts of climate, climate change and related environmental hazards on health with particular focus on the development of adaptation and mitigation strategies, and quantification of health impacts using novel methods in climate epidemiology.
We are looking for a project manager assistant to manage the administrative work of the team and support the coordination of the research projects, teaching activities and preparation of grant applications.
Duties and responsibilities
- Support the PI in the supervision of the overall performance of projects: budget planning and monitoring, writing of financial reporting, coordination and drafting of subcontracts and coordination of project milestones and deliverables.
- Overseeing and managing the activities related to field research: coordination of activities, material procurement, shipping and submission of the application to the ethics committee.
- Organization of meetings and workshops coordinated by the research team.
- Coordination of recruitment processes, and related administrative procedures.
- Carry out day-to-day administrative tasks and support to the PI's administrative tasks.
- Support the preparation of grant applications.
- Support the coordination of teaching activities.
Your Profile
- University education or similar with further education/training in project management
- Previous working experience in an international scientific environment, preferably with experience in administration of research project and large grants.
- Previous experience in coordinating research projects, contract management, international shipments, finances and organizational tasks (e.g., organization of meetings).
- Advanced knowledge of written/spoken (Swiss) German and English is required. French and/or Italian is an asset.
- Motivated, collaborative and proactive professional, with good interpersonal skills and motivated to work in teams.
