Postdoctoral Research Assistant, 60%

The Social Transitions Research Group (STR) of the Department of Social Sciences researches social innovations for sustainable change at the intersection of technology, governance, and business. The group strives to teach, research, and consult on sustainability that is theoretically and methodologically sound, culture-sensitive and context-specific, as well as relevant for practice. STR focuses on “positive innovation cases” in the areas of food and/or communities, where sustainable change will be studied as models for rethinking concepts, theories, and practice.
To promote the development of this research focus, STR is looking for an assistant at the post-doc level from 1 February 2025. The position is limited to 6 years (2 + 4 years).

Your position

  • Collaborate on research projects and publications;
  • Teach one course per semester (2 hours per week);
  •  Engage with student support and support administration;
  • Contribute to current collaborative activities in India;
  •  Contribute to the group's academic culture and identity.

Your profile

  • A doctorate in sociology or sustainability (with a focus on the social sciences);
  •  Theoretical and/or empirical interests relating to social change and innovation, preferably relating to sustainability and technology/governance/business;
  • Experience or interest in food or community issues;
  • European or exo-European research experience on sustainability and/or transdisciplinarity;
  •  Must have excellent German and English language skills (speaking and writing).
  •  An interest in td in India a plus.
