We are looking for an enthusiastic, and highly motivated doctoral student to join our international-oriented and dynamic research team.

Responsibilities
• Conduction of animal experiments in transition dairy cows and neonatal calves
• Laboratory analysis of blood and milk samples
• Mathematical and statistical evaluations
• Preparation of manuscripts for publications in international peer-reviewed journals
• Preparation of a doctoral thesis (Dr. med. vet.)
Requirements
• Master's degree or equivalent in veterinary medicine
• Strong interest in research related to farm animals
• The project requires animal experimentation (dairy cows, calves), and previous exposure to in-vivo work would be advantageous.
• Strong language skills (German, French and English).
• Social competence to work with farmers, and concomitantly with international scientists are expected.

• The Veterinary Physiology group at the Vetsuisse Faculty of the University of Bern is an internationally recognized group with high impact research in the field of mammary gland physiology of dairy cows. Major research topics include the endocrine control of lactation, adaptation of metabolism and immune system. Furthermore, colostrum formation, transition dairy cow and neonatal calf health, and animal-technology interactions are core themes.
