The Department of Physics at the University of Basel invites applications for the position of Communication and Outreach Officer at the Swiss National Center of Competence in Research (NCCR) "SPIN: Spin Qubits in Silicon". The University of Basel is the home institution of the NCCR SPIN, which aims to develop elements of a scalable quantum computer platform based on electron and hole spin qubits in silicon and germanium.

Your position

Your position involves managing all aspects of communication, both internal and external and Outreach activities. A key task is maintaining NCCR SPIN's website and social media. Furthermore, you will be responsible for organising meetings, workshops, schools, conferences and other NCCR SPIN's activities.

You will also help with the Diversity and Inclusion (DI) activities of NCCR SPIN and participate in the reporting on communication, DI, and outreach, and disseminate achievements. The position is intended to be a long-term engagement.

Your profile

You should possess strong skills in communication, including science news writing, web presence and design, and social media management, and event organization. Experience in outreach and an interest in art and science would be helpful. A background or clear interest in science is preferable.

As a proactive individual with a creative, critical mindset and strong organizational skills, you are confident in leading the activities outlined above.

Fluency in English is essential; fluency in German is also valued
