Biomedical Labor Technician (f/m/d)
Berne, 75 - 100 %
The Center for Experimental Neurology (ZEN) is a research center of the Department of Neurology at the University of Bern. It hosts experimental laboratories conducting research in neuroscience and neurology. It includes state-of-the-art technical platform for molecular, cellular, and behavioral neurobiology.
What you can expect
ZEN (25 - 50 % permanent)- Support with the genotyping of the transgenic mice
- Lab managements, ordering, organizing the chemicals, service of the lab equipment
- Support with the management of the mouse colonies and the animal licenses.
- Control of the Biosafety measurements
- Introduction to new lab members in the biosafety rules and guidelines of the lab and practical introduction to the animal experimental protocols.
- Viral injections in the mouse brain
- Implanting the recording electrodes, analysis of the EEG recordings
- Checking the health status of the animals by administering painkillers
- Behavioral studies (rodent models), perfusing the animals and performing the histology on the brain (cryosection, immunostaining, fluorescence microscopy).
Your Profile
- Completed training as a biomed. analyst or completed training as a laboratory technician EFZ, preferably with at least 2 years of experience in the similar field
- Good organizational and communication skills
- Practical experience in animal experimentation
- Practical experience in histological techniques (cutting, frozen tissue, histochemical and immune stainings) desirable
- Very good knowledge of German and English
