The Institute of Cell Biology at the University of Bern is seeking a highly motivated PhD student to join the lab of Prof. Torsten Ochsenreiter. The research will focus on the molecular mechanisms of mitochondrial transcription in the human and animal parasite Trypanosoma brucei, using molecular biology biochemical and high end microscopy techniques.

Tasks
  • Conduct research on mitochondrial transcription in Trypanosoma brucei.
  • Collaborate in an international team on the topic of mitochondrial transcription.
  • Present findings at conferences and publish results in scientific journals.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in molecular biology or a related field.
  • Strong background in molecular biology, biochemical methods and microscopy.
  • Strong motivation and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
