- Calculating the life cycle inventory of the overall organic agriculture sector in Switzerland
- Analysing data and authoring scientific reports / specialist articles
- Supporting project managers in administrative and organisational tasks
This makes you unique
- Achievement-oriented, team-oriented and flexible personality
- Completed Master's in agronomy, environmental sciences or analogous training
- Experience in life cycle assessment and in creating life cycle inventories
- Good IT skills (knowledge of Python an advantage)
- Good knowledge of the agricultural sector; solid knowledge of environmental sciences
- Knowledge of two official Swiss languages and English
In a nutshell
The post is attached to two research projects and has the following priorities:
(i) Updating and expanding life cycle inventories for conventional and organic agriculture in Switzerland
(ii) Using the life cycle inventories to calculate the overall life cycle assessment for the organic agriculture sector in Switzerland
In both projects we use Agroscope's own SALCA (= Swiss Agricultural Life Cycle Assessment) Method.

The 'Life Cycle Assessment' Research Group investigates environmental impacts and sustainability assessment in the agriculture and food sector. It develops methodologies, data and tools, applying them in projects concerning agricultural production systems, farms, or the agricultural sector with a view to improving agricultural products, foods, diets, nutritional scenarios, and agricultural policy measures.
