The Train Cleaning and Facility Maintenance Technician is responsible for cleaning trains, equipment maintenance facilities, and performing general facility upkeep. This role supports safe and efficient railroad operations by maintaining clean, orderly, and hazard-free vehicles and work environments. All duties must be performed in compliance with Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) safety regulations, company policies, and applicable federal standards.
Key Responsibilities
• Clean and sanitize train interiors, including passenger areas, operator cabs, restrooms, floors, and surfaces.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of equipment maintenance facilities, workshops, and storage areas.
• Perform general facility maintenance tasks such as trash removal, sweeping, mopping, outdoor upkeep, and basic repairs.
• Perform basic facility maintenance tasks, including minor repairs, fixture replacement, painting, filter replacements, door greasing, and general upkeep.
• Identify and report safety hazards, equipment malfunctions, or facility issues to supervisors.
• Ensure all work complies with FRA safety rules and federal regulatory requirements.
• Operate cleaning tools, chemicals, and equipment safely and according to company guidelines.
• Support train readiness by ensuring vehicles are presentable and hazard-free before service.
• Follow standard operating procedures and complete required documentation.
HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.• Prior experience in railroad environments, industrial cleaning, custodial services, or facility maintenance preferred.
• Ability to successfully complete FRA-required training, testing, and qualification processes.
• Ability to read, understand, and comply with railroad operating and safety rules.
• Physically capable of lifting, bending, standing, and performing manual labor in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
• Fluent in English (both verbal and written)
