This is how you can contribute

  • Participating in the 'SwissOnion' research project in the area of breeding research and onion pre-breeding
  • Compiling, documenting and characterising a diversity panel for Allium cepa and related species
  • Assisting with the phenotypical characterisation of onion material under field, greenhouse or climate-chamber conditions
  • Providing support in the planning, execution and evaluation of trait-development trials, in particular regarding disease resistances and stress traits

This makes you unique

  • Soon-to-be-completed (in maximum 12 months) bachelor or master course in agronomy, biology or a related field
  • Committed, team-spirited and communicative personality with an interest in plant breeding, genetic resources and applied agricultural research
  • You enjoy practical work with plant material as well as the combination of laboratory, greenhouse and field work
  • Meticulous, structured and independent way of working
  • Good EDP and statistics skills; Cat. B driver's licence an advantage
  • Knowledge of two official Swiss languages and English
