Postdoctoral Biostatistician Position in Environmental Epidemiology

We are seeking a motivated postdoctoral biostatistician to work on a multinational project investigating childhood cancer risks associated with natural background radiation, as part of the EU Horizon 2020-funded initiative RadoNorm (www.radonorm.eu). The study combines data from multiple nationwide studies in Europe to better understand risks from low-dose ionizing radiation exposure at young ages. The successful candidate will join the Environmental and Spatial Epidemiology research group at the Institute of Social and Preventive Medicine (ISPM), University of Bern. Our group specializes in research on childhood cancer etiology, focusing on different environmental risk factors such as radiation and air pollution by leveraging nationwide routine datasets.
The Institute of Social and Preventive Medicine (ISPM) at the University of Bern performs research in a range of disciplines relevant to public health (www.ispm.unibe.ch). Groups cut across divisions, facilitating an interdisciplinary approach to research in the fields of clinical epidemiology, social and behavioral health, biostatistics, and international and environmental health. The ISPM is highly reputed for its expertise in health effects of environmental exposures, the spread of infectious diseases, and the health of vulnerable groups including children and the elderly.
- Statistical coding for harmonized data analysis from multiple sites
- Conducting final meta-analyses of results
- Drafting manuscripts for publication
- Communicating with project partners and coordinating site-specific analyses
- Active involvement in other research group projects
- Demonstrated experience in planning and conducting statistical analyses within epidemiological research
- Strong programming skills in R
- Proven experience in scientific writing and publication
- Strong coordination and organizational skills
- Excellent English language skills; knowledge of German/French is an advantage
