The Department of Biomedicine (DBM) is a joint effort between the University of Basel and the University Hospitals Basel. It unites basic and clinical scientists to advance our understanding of health and disease and to develop pioneering therapies benefiting the lives of patients in areas of unmet need.
With more than 70 research groups and 800 employees, the Department of Biomedicine is the largest department at the University. We are located in the heart of Basel at 6 different locations.
The Biozentrum of the University of Basel is one of the leading life sciences institutes in the world. Its fundamental research embraces a wide range of topics such as biochemistry, biophysics, physics of living systems, structural biology, microbiology, infection biology and immunology, cell and developmental biology, neurobiology, genetics as well as computational and systems biology.
With over 30 groups, about 150 PhD students and over 500 employees, we are a lively and dynamic international community of researchers who investigate with curiosity biological phenomena ranging from interactions of molecules to growth, development and behavior of organisms. Our research has spawned many fundamental discoveries in biology and medicine as well as several Nobel Laureates.
The Bioinformatics Core Facility at DBM is seeking a Ph.D. level bioinformatician. The facility is a centralized resource of expertise for the analysis and visualization of large-scale biological datasets, available to researchers at DBM and the Biozentrum.
The position is initially limited to 3 years and it is available immediately or upon agreement.
