Assistant Professorship with tenure track for Systems Pathology
The Position is affiliated with the Institute of Pathology and Molecular Pathology of the University of Zurich and the University Hospital Zurich. It offers major opportunities for establishing a first-class translational research program in the field of functional tumor pathology in collaboration with numerous partners and institutions in Zurich, in particular within the Comprehensive Cancer Center Zurich. The Professorship is designed for a "Clinician Scientist" with board certification in Pathology (if possible with subspecialization Molecular Pathology) and several years of postdoctoral experience. The research should focus on a specific organ pathology of high clinical relevance. Familiarity with and a deep understanding of high-throughput methods in an "-omics" field, as well as with collection/analysis of patient data is essential. Expertise in the morphological characterization of tumor tissue would be of advantage. The Professorship shall establish an independent research group with international profile supported by competitive third party funding. It should have a genuine interest for establishing and actively contributing to interdisciplinary research collaborations on the local, national and international level.
The Professorship will contribute to teaching in the curriculum of human medicine and in postgraduate specialization programs. Accordingly, teaching experience, acquisition of didactic skills and successful supervision of PhD and MSc students will be among the criteria for Tenure evaluation.
