Stadler Rail Service UK Limited (SRS UK) is a subsidiary of Stadler. SRS UK provides a train maintenance service for a growing number of clients in the UK. In the next few years over 150 new Stadler trains will be joining the UK Rail Network which signifies the start of an exciting future for Stadler in the UK. We are looking for an experienced Production Manager at our Norwich depot to lead and manage our production team on a 12 month secondment basis. You will ensure the business meets its contractual performance levels, including safety, reliability, train presentation, and availability on a 24/7 basis. Your role involves providing trains as needed, meeting all criteria for safety, reliability, environmental standards, and train presentation. You will offer strong leadership, promote continual improvement, and maintain a client-focused attitude. The ideal candidate will act independently, set priorities, and contribute to the company's KPI's and values.

Your duties will include

• Support the Head of Production in leading and coordinating technical staff (technicians, fitters, assistants) for rolling stock delivery.
• Ensure safety standards and performance targets are met through on-the-job quality inspections and reporting.
• Verify that trains are safe, reliable, and compliant with company procedures before entering service.
• Allocate work according to maintenance plans; carry out routine maintenance, repairs, and fault-finding as needed.
• Perform inspections and checks to ensure safety and adherence to specifications.
• Complete all documentation associated with fleet maintenance and overhaul activities.
• Assist with people management, ensuring staff competence and safety accountability.
• Oversee performance regimes to achieve safety and quality targets.
• Support the development and implementation of organizational standards and procedures.
• Report safety failures and incidents, promoting a zero-harm culture.
• Initiate actions to prevent non-conformances and maintain the annual risk register.
• Demonstrate values-based behaviour and deputise for the Head of Production as required.

What are we looking for?

Essential
• Electrical & Mechanical time served (or equivalent) with suitable level of shop floor experience.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Must have or is willing to become a statutory first aid at work person.
• Experience in:
• Line/people management
• Fire safety
• Health & Safety
• Legacy fleet maintenance and fault-finding
• Accident Reporting and Investigation
• Competency must be demonstrated in:
• Rules and Regulations Category C, including local depot instructions
• PTS
• Designated person
• Nominated person
• Traction and Rolling Stock Maintenance Standards
• Good level of IT skill including Microsoft packages

Desirable:
• Knowledge of units
• Management experience / supervisor experience
• Understand diagrams
• Working as part of a management team
• Experience of continuous improvement
• Project management
• Proven experience in the introduction of new trains and warranty management
• Proven extensive experience in a large engineering environment with a focus on production, through-life support

• Salary of £65,203.00 per annum
• Base location at Norwich Crown Point Depot
• 37-hour average working week on a shift rotation basis
• 244.2 hours annual leave, adjusted depending on shift length, with an increase after 10 years continuous service
