The Department of Biomedicine is a joint effort between the University of Basel and the University Hospitals Basel. It unites basic and clinical scientists to advance our understanding of health and disease and to develop pioneering therapies benefiting the lives of patients in areas of unmet need.

The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team and contribute to the development and implementation of advanced assays to investigate mechanisms underlying impaired reproductive outcomes and cardiovascular health.
This position is part of a newly established research laboratory led by Prof. Frauke von Versen, focusing on reproductive biology and women's health through an integrated approach combining basic, translational, and clinical research.
The working place of the successful candidate is at Hebelstrasse 20, 4031 Basel.
 
Projects:

  • Targeting on corpus luteum–derived endocrine signals in decidualization and endothelial function.
  • In parallel we investigate the pathomechanisms of endometriosis using 3D and organoid models, as well as the links between reproductive disorders, reproductive aging, and premature vascular aging contributing to long-term cardiovascular risk.

Your position

  • Design, execute and analyze biochemical, molecular biological and cellular assays to evaluate hormonal impacts.
  • Subsequent analysis of results requires GraphPad Prism, FlowJo, Excel, and Statistics.
  • Support lab management and organization
  • Work in a multi-disciplinary environment collaborating with cell biologists and physicians.
  • Writing of reports and protocols.

Your profile

The successful candidate holds a master in life sciences or a related field. Qualified interns will be considered. Expertise with cell and tissue culture, microscopic, biochemical and molecular biological techniques is of advantage. An interest for software-based analysis and ev. R-programming is welcome. The ideal candidate is highly motivated, works independently, pays attention to experimental details, and integrates rapidly in our new team.
