Contract: fixed term for 4-5 months
The Sensing and Monitoring Lab is embedded in the interdisciplinary environment of the University of Bern, Inselspital Bern, and the Diabetes Center Berne. Combining expertise in engineering, medicine, and computer science, samlab focuses on developing innovative sensing technologies.
Job purpose and responsibilities
You will work on our interdisciplinary Snout project in collaboration with the veterinary clinics. The project focuses on monitoring pig farrowing using radar sensors. As part of our software team, you will support data cleaning, analysis, and visualization of radar data (time-series data, point clouds, range–Doppler maps).
Requirements
- Important: This position is only for students currently enrolled in Swiss Universities (Master programs)
- Current Master Student in Computer Science, Mathematics, Biomedical Engineering, or related fields
- Ability to be on-site in Bern
- Strong python skills for digital signal processing
- Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent English language skills; German is a plus
- Willingness to collaborate with veterinarians and farmers and to visit pig farms
