HOW YOU CAN MAKE AN IMPACT

As a Cost Engineering Intern, you will work across engineering, procurement and production to find and deliver cost savings on our operations, sitting inside Corporate Development where all of those functions come together. Key tasks include analyzing parts and assemblies for cost drivers, building cost models from material, process, tooling and logistics, supporting supplier sourcing and negotiation, and contributing to strategic Corporate Development projects with direct visibility to senior and executive management.

Key Responsibilities
Design and Cost Analysis:
• Find where cost is being carried unnecessarily in parts and assemblies
• Work with engineers on design to cost and manufacturing methods
• Build up target costs from material, process, tooling and logistics
• Compare alternatives on cost, feasibility and lead time

Sourcing and Suppliers:
• Research and assess suppliers, with a focus on North America
• Support supplier qualification and development
• Prepare the analysis behind supplier negotiations
• Take part in supplier negotiations
• Contribute to make or buy and localization decisions

Corporate Development Projects:
• Support strategic and cross functional projects
• Prepare analysis and materials for management review
• Work alongside Engineering, Purchasing and Production
• Get exposure to colleagues at our Swiss headquarters and international sites

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a comparable technical field, or recent grad.
• Able to read technical drawings and comfortable with common manufacturing processes.
• Strong analytical skills and confident in Excel. Exposure to CAD or ERP systems is an advantage.
• Willing to adapt to new situations and challenges.
• Self-starting, curious and ready to take ownership.
• Available for a minimum of three months, on site in Salt Lake City, full time preferred, part time considered.
• Authorization to work in the United States.
• Must be fluent in English, both written and verbal. German language skills are a plus!
