Student Assistant CSLS

The Center for the Study of Language and Society (CSLS) is seeking to appoint a 20% student assistant (Hilfsassistent:in) for Herbstsemester 2024 (1 August-31 December 2024). Extension of contracts into 2025 may be possible (to be confirmed at a later date).
The job holders will assist the CSLS Director and the CSLS Management Team in administering CSLS Study Programs (MA, PhD), organizing CSLS events, supporting ongoing research within the CSLS, and communication and publicity

Specific tasks include (indicative list)
• Compilation of course booklets, handbooks, study guides, etc. for MA in Sociolinguistics program
• Organization of CSLS guest lectures, workshops, and training events
• Creation of publicity materials for CSLS events
• Maintenance of CSLS website
• Assistance with CSLS external funding applications
• Assistance with translations of CSLS materials in German, French and English
• Liaising with central administration of the Walter Benjamin Kolleg
• Regular (weekly) meeting with the CSLS Management Team
Requirements
• Enrolment as a student at the University of Bern, with preference given to candidates enrolled in the MA in Sociolinguistics program
• Ability to work both independently and in teams
• Good spoken and written communication skills (German or French and English)
• Computing skills, experience with website maintenance desi|rable
• Familiarity with the CSLS and sociolinguistics as a discipline
