HOW YOU CAN MAKE AN IMPACT
As a Mechanical Engineer (Signaling), you will be responsible for the design, development, and integration of mechanical systems within complex signaling environments, such as trains and railway wayside infrastructure. This role requires a strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and a commitment to safety and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will demonstrate technical leadership, innovation, and the ability to manage multiple engineering projects with minimal supervision.
Key Activities
• Lead the mechanical design and development of signaling components and systems, ensuring alignment with project specifications and industry standards.
• Writing and developing technical specifications
• Design parts, assemblies and drawings using CAD
• Cross-departmental collaboration in design feasibility and continuous improvement
• Create designs according to company procedures, regulations and client standards
• Review and release technical drawings and BOMs
• Calculate factors like tolerance, dimensions, thermal and structural analysis
• Perform First Article Inspections (FAI) at supplier facilities
• Ensure compliance with applicable standards (e.g., AREMA, IEEE, ISO, MIL-STD) and regulatory requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline (Master's preferred).• 6-10 years of relevant experience in sheet metal, composites, machined parts, assemblies, etc.
• Working knowledge of 3D modeling software – CATIA V5 experience preferred
• Working knowledge of PLM software – SmarTeam or TeamCenter preferred
• Able to work in fast-paced, collaborative environment
• Self-motivated attitude and the ability to use initiative to maintain project timelines
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Excellent technical writing skills
