HOW YOU CAN MAKE AN IMPACT
The Engineering Director will lead and develop a high-performing engineering team at Stadler North America's headquarters in Salt Lake City, UT. You will be responsible for aligning with business objectives while driving technical vision and architecture decisions across engineering disciplines. You will mentor staff on key technical concepts driving process development and improvement, and execute the engineering strategy for rolling stock programs.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and execute the engineering strategy for rolling stock programs, aligning with business objectives.
• Drive technical vision and architecture decisions across engineering disciplines.
• Lead, mentor and grow high-performing engineering team.
• Develop and manage workforce capacity planning for optimal efficiency.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including assembly, commissioning, procurement, project management and sales.
• Mentor and train on key technical concepts to improve understanding of systems and functionality.
• Drive initiatives for process development, continuous improvement and financial performance.
• Promote innovation in vehicle design, propulsion systems, and digital technologies.
• Oversee project planning, execution and delivery across engineering functions.
• Manage technical risks and drive solutions for complex engineering challenges.
• Ensure compliance with US rail standards.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. Master's preferred.• At least 12 years of experience of progressive engineering experience in rail vehicle manufacturing or rolling stock.
• At least 8 years of management experience at a senior level managing multiple disciplines and large teams in a manufacturing environment/rolling stock development design.
• Substantial experience in the railway industry is required.
• Proven track record of technical leadership skills, effectively interfacing with senior management, cross-functional teams, and customers.
• Demonstrated experience implementing and maintaining ISO 90001-compliant quality management systems.
• Familiarity with IRIS (International Railway Industry Standard).
• Strong understanding of rail standards, safety certification, and regulatory compliance.
• Strong knowledge of Catia V5 or other 3D-modeling tools.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of effectively engaging with both technical and non-technical stakeholders in an international environment.
• Fluent in German is a plus!
