As the System Safety Manager, you will focus on ensuring comprehensive safety management throughout project lifecycles.
Key Responsibilities
• Establish project specific vehicle safety plans based on Stadler's safety management process for the US market.
• Consult/support the project in coordinating activities in the risk management process (e.g. moderate hazard identification workshops, maintain hazard record).
• Consult/support the project in the transfer of risks and their control to other parties (e.g. railway companies, maintenance engineers, infrastructure managers), as well as adequate documentation of the transfer as "exported requirements", also in operator or maintenance manuals.
• Consult/support the project in conducting discussions, including audits with relevant parties (e.g. railway companies, maintenance engineers, infrastructure managers) and supervisory authorities.
• Consult in the company/project on the design of an efficient process for vehicle certification, while taking advantage of the scope for action in the relevant legislation.
• Perform all risk and safety analyses for projects and report the results in the project dedicated documentations.
• Monitor/Observe the project and safety certification schedule and provide all contractual safety related documentation in a timely manner.
• Support the engineering department in the implementation, verification and validation of the safety related requirements.
• Coordinate all activities with internal RAM/LCC and Quality departments.
• Internally align the safety management process and documentation. If required and approved, implement adaptations and changes to adhere to the safety management process.
• Coordination with the customer, especially the customer's safety management in collaboration with Project Management.
• Apply the essential requirements of MIL-STD-882D and MIL-STD-882E.
• Apply the DOT “Hazard Analysis Guidelines for Transit Projects” and “Handbook for Transit Safety and Security Certification”.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (mechanical or electrical) in relevant field• Minimum of 3 years' experience in the field of rail vehicle, defense, aerospace and safety management
• Strong knowledge of industry regulations, standards and safety guidelines
• Experience in working within challenging projects in an international environment
• Team player with high degree of social competence, sense of responsibility and assertiveness
• Entrepreneurial thinking and acting
• Structured, goal-oriented, dynamic and loyal personality
• Excellent communication and writing skills
• Excellent problem-solving abilities with strong teamwork skills
• Fluent in English (both verbal and written). German is a plus!
