Reporting to the UK Procurement Manager, you will be responsible for identifying risks and opportunities across the end‑to‑end procurement process to support the achievement of business goals and KPIs. The role includes, data analysis, and producing clear, concise reports to support departmental KPIs and Key Success Factors.

Role Overview:

Stadler Rail Service UK (SRSUK) is seeking a Procurement Planner to join the UK Procurement and Logistics team. This role involves strategic procurement activities and supporting the implementation of procurement innovation and improvements, particularly as new projects are mobilised across the UK. You will support the business in ensuring tools and materials are available to enable the delivery of trains as required, meeting all criteria relating to safety, reliability, environmental standards and train presentation. This includes adherence to industry, engineering and production best practice, as well as contractual requirements.

Main Tasks:

Organisational:
• Design and implement procurement tools that maximise efficiency, reduce costs and enhance value across the supply chain.
• Develop long‑term strategies for the HQ Procurement Team and suppliers, supported by data‑driven insights.
• Analyse data and insights to identify trends and inform decision‑making.
• Act as a proactive planner, optimising procurement and supplier performance and compliance across the UK.
• Coordinate procurement activities, including sourcing suppliers and managing purchase orders.
• Support budget planning and forecasting for procurement‑related expenditure.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure optimal performance and collaboration.
• Work closely with internal stakeholders, including operations, finance, QHSE, HR and engineering teams, to understand procurement needs, provide guidance and ensure timely delivery of required goods and services.
• Identify and mitigate potential risks within the supply chain. Develop contingency plans to ensure supply chain continuity.
• Proactively identify opportunities to establish secure and robust contracts and pricing agreements.
• Supports the Material Managers with stock and supplier management.
• Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, ethical standards, and legal requirements.

Experience:

• Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data tools, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
• Advanced Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint skills.
• Excellent communication, relationship‑building, and stakeholder‑management capabilities.
• Collaborative mindset and ability to work in a dynamic environment.
• Minimum of 2 years' procurement experience, ideally within the rail industry.
• Good understanding of supplier management principles.
• Demonstrated experience in developing and executing procurement strategies in partnership with suppliers.
