The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Bern and the University Hospital (Inselspital) Bern invite applicants for a

Full Professorship for Nephrology combined with the position as Director and Chief Physician of the University Clinic for Nephrology

to be appointed immediately or upon agreement.

As a tertiary center, the Department of Nephrology offers the entire spectrum of diagnostics and treatment at the highest level and collaborates closely with interdisciplinary partner clinics of the Insel Gruppe.

The position is to be filled with an internationally recognized personality with strong leadership skills, a proven research profile and a talent for innovation. The new head of the department is an excellent nephrologist with a proven specialty and several years of management experience in a leading position at a university clinic for nephrology. She/He is expected to competently represent the specialty in patient care, research and education, to foster the academic network in the clinic, in teaching and research as well as to strengthen and further develop the subspecialties of nephrology.

A high level of integration and teamwork skills, competence in leading complex teams as well as strong social and conflict resolution skills are essential. Moreover, you are actively committed to implementing gender equality and diversity-related measures in your clinic. Excellent communication skills are expected. You have a good command of German and French or you are willing to acquire it.

Furthermore, a strong interest in translational research at the interface between basic research and patient-oriented research is essential. Regular publication activity and successful acquisition of competitive external funding are required.

A habilitation or equivalent academic qualification and a specialist qualification in nephrology are required. Besides teaching skills and an interest in innovative and contemporary teaching and learning concepts, also a strong commitment to training and further education as well as the promotion of young talents are expected.
