What you'll be doing here
  • Develop subseasonal forecasting approaches to improve the predictability of renewable energy generation and demand conditions in Europe
  • Carry out high-quality research at the intersection of subseasonal forecasting and machine learning for energy applications
  • Publish your results in leading international journals and complete your doctorate at University of Lausanne and BFH
  • Present your work at international conferences and have the opportunity to assist in teaching and to co-supervise undergraduate students
  • Our group offers a stimulating collaborative research environment and a strong network with industry partners
What you'll bring with you
  • MSc degree (or equivalent) in physics, atmospheric/geoscience, engineering, computer science, applied mathematics, or a related field
  • Experience in at least two of the following areas: Subseasonal or weather forecasting, programming, statistical or machine learning, data analysis
  • Strong analytical and programming skills (e.g., Python), fluency in English, good scientific writing, and communication skills
  • Self-motivated and proactive, you enjoy working with complex topics and thrive on challenges
