Ph.D. Fellowship

The professorship of General Sociology (C. Joppke) at the Institute of Sociology offers a fully funded Ph.D. Fellowship immediately effective, for the duration of 3 years.

Duties
The successful candidate will write a dissertation that combines social or political theory with some form of empirics. Preferred areas are political sociology, economic sociology, cultural sociology, or the sociology of law. Current research foci at the chair are migration and integration, religion, and populism and nationalism, in historical-comparative perspective.

The candidate is expected to teach one own course per year, and to cooperate in teaching required courses in classical and contemporary theory. The candidate should also be ready to collaborate in the procuring of external funding.
Qualifications
A very good master in sociology or related discipline; good English language competency, in speech and writing.
Deadline

Employment is expected to commence by September 2021 at the latest.
