The Institute of Pathology and the NCCR RNA & Disease at the University of Bern in Switzerland invite applications for a
Tenure-Track Assistant Professor Position in "Spatially Resolved Multidimensional Transcriptomics"
The position is available earliest as of January 1st, 2022 or upon mutual agreement and will be localized at the Institute of Pathology and embedded in the national research network "NCCR RNA & Disease".
The Institute of Pathology (https://www.pathology.unibe.ch/index_eng.html) offers a comprehensive range of diagnostic services and hosts several experimental and a translational research groups including a digital pathology group. The NCCR RNA & Disease (https://nccr-rna-and-disease.ch) reinforces the leading position of Switzerland in RNA biology by connecting RNA researchers across the country and builds bridges between basic and medical research to promote rapid transition of new findings into medical applications.
The successful candidate is expected to develop an innovative research program on spatially resolved single-cell transcriptomics and combine it with developing applications for human tumor tissues and digital pathology. Integration into and collaborations with the Swiss RNA research community in the frame of the NCCR RNA & Disease and reaching out to the medical community are expected.
Candidates must have a strong publication record in the field of multidimensional transcriptomics and have a sincere interest in translational application. Acquisition of competitive external funding is expected, and excellent communication and collaboration skills are a must. Good teaching skills and a strong commitment to educate and promote young academics are also required.
